INTRODUCTION

CIS flat steel products market is still influenced by financial crisis aftereffects. On 2009 results demand for flat steel products in the region had a 1/3 decrease. Thus, situation in the consuming industries doesn’t allow to expect that market will go up considerably in the nearest future.
At the same time, at the end of 2009 production level at CIS steel mills for flats increased by 85% due to growth of foreign sales. Export quotations, in turn, became the key-factor determining domestic market movement.

Shall we expect the growth of internal prices in spite of the low demand? What are the prospects of steel consuming industries? How effective were the methods of adaptation to new market conditions of trading companies and producers?
